FAQ

When do I need a solicitor? There are a wide range of instances where a solicitor is required, such as serious criminal charges, complex commercial matters, etc. If you are unsure, you may contact us for a free initial consultation.

Can I use a will kit? For some people a will kit may be sufficient for their needs. As needs and situations differ, it is safer to use a suitably qualified practitioner to ensure that your testamentary wishes will be honoured.  An enduring power of attorney is also helpful in the event that you are incapacitated or otherwise unable to deal with your legal matters through injury or illness.

Can the authorised officers on the train arrest you?  The Transport Act allows authorised to check your tickets and your concession entitlement if you are travelling on a concession ticket whilst on the train, tram or bus and even if you have just left the carriage or a designated ticket area.  If found without a valid ticket or a current concession entitlement, the authorised officers can require you provide a correct name and address.  You can be arrested if the authorised officers cannot verify your name and address.

I am looking to purchase a house. Should I speak to my solicitor before making an offer?  Your solicitor may offer to review the Section 32 document for you prior to your making an offer.  By signing a Contract to Purchase, you will incur several contractual obligations and if breached, these obligations could cost you the deposit amount or more.  As all situations can be different, it is always safer to contact your solicitor before entering any contract.
